Jain Monk Bowl
This Jain monk single wood bowl is hand lathed in Rajasthan by the Kharadi muslims for use by the Shwetamber sect of Jain monks. The white robed monks renounce all worldly possessions and in a journey of humility travel by foot with their bowl/bowls seeking followers who fill them with food. This wood bowl called “bhiksha patra” are lathed from local rohida wood prized for its dense grain and strength. This bowl is delivered finished with olive oil. We recommend to continue oiling the wood with any cooking oil to keep it's strength and color before and after use. Each bowl is one-of-a-kind and your order may be a different grain than pictured.
