Beyond the Ridge

A Native American story about an old woman and her subsequent spirit journey. Once she is safely “beyond the ridge” the story focuses on the woman’s family and how ritual helps them mourn and then accept her passing. The universal wisdom this book contains will give comfort and insight on a subject that can be difficult for adults and children alike.
“Anything that has a birth, must also have a death. The spirit is not born with a person, but is given at the time of birth. Therefore, because the spirit has no birth, it will never die.” Story and Illustrations by Paul Goble
